A E Parker Ltd is part of the national distribution consortium, Partnerlink Ltd.

The concept of Partnerlink is to maximise freight movement whilst minimising pollution, through the cooperation and consolidation of loads between all regional partners. Since carbon footprints and environmental considerations have come to the forefront of all businesses, Partnerlink’s concept lends itself to benefit the customer on prices and its own environmental responsibilities.

The union of the partners not only brings a wealth of industry experience but the pooling of resources, equipment and technologies means that Partnerlink can accommodate any customer request.

The partners are allocated freight based on their proximity to the collection and delivery point and double-decked trailers are used between the partners. This results in better vehicle utilisation and the significant reduction of miles that a pallet travels. All of the vehicles are tracked which enables the operators to have constant visibility allowing the most appropriately positioned vehicle to be used.

Double-decked trailers are in use for trunking, some of which are of the newer design with a sloping roof. This improves airflow which significantly reduces the use of fuel and in turn, decreases carbon and harmful nitrous oxide emissions. Over 50 pallets can be transported at one time which gives excellent vehicle utilisation. All loads are centrally planned which reduces the amount of empty vehicles on the UK roads.
